Michael Pollan:  Plant’s Eye View

People think that they are only helping themselves. We are not the only ones that believe that; animals believe that too.

In this talk, the bee had his mindset on what he was going to do. He was not only benefiting himself, but he was benefiting the plant. This is like Newton’s Law for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. By taking the nectar it is pollinating the flower. Agriculture is not based on us and what we plant, but it is based on what the plant leaves on us it manipulates us by standing out tempting us to want to plant it.

We believe we are more sophisticated than plants or we are less than plants. Have they evolved far more quickly than we have. Yes they have they have created biochemical that can help themselves defend itself and other plants.

On the farm he was talking about the farmer used his animals to benefit each other. The cows provided food for the chicken but the chickens took care of a fly problem. The chickens also helped to fertilize the land.

Ecosystems benefit each other by creating a circle of life one fertilizes and helps each other survive by creating food and nutrients.

So we do not benefit just ourselves; we benefit each other.
