Happiness is essential for human life. Without happiness everything is gloomy and depressing. It is sometimes hard to find happiness, but Stefan Sagmeister is able to show us that happiness comes in many ways.
From the simple unconditional love that his brother shows him by lending him his motorcycle “freely”, to finding ordinary caution signs in a subway that are reversed to show how to create happiness. There are many different ways to write happiness. Wether it’s writing the word “happiness” by using the languages letters or if it’s even drawing a design to evoke happiness, there are many ways to translate this message.
I thought the building he went to called “happiness” was very intriguing. First off the name is very clever because I have never heard of building called that. There were four levels of art; Arcadia, which was 100 ways to write happiness in different forms. Nirvana was the 1 of the 4 that had paintings with abstract ways to show happiness. Desire was another one that should paintings of intimacy and love, and the last one was Harmony. This led to the desire of making projects to evoke this meaning of happiness.
I think this presentation Stefan gives is very remarkable. His point is valid and gives us the opportunity to change the world with happiness by, in particular, designing.
