Peter Diamandis:  Stephen Hawking in Zero G

Dreams matter.

They are the force that keeps us going. They are our constant, in a world of variables. They are so varied and so vast, and yet at the same time they are so unique. Dreams are our goal, mission, and our inspiration. Some devote their entire life to achieving their dreams. Others work to make their dreams a conceivable future for their children. In a perfect world we might all have our dreams fulfilled, however this world is far from perfect. Very few people get the chance to even recognize their dreams, not to mention fulfilling them. It is a rare and often times treasured event, that certainly won’t happen more than once in a life time, and most times not even that.

So when a man has an opportunity to fulfill his dream, is there a reason in the world not to help achieve his goal? Peter Diamandis gave Stephen Hawking the chance of his life time. The man who has devoted his life to the study of gravity finally can experience a world with out it. I find a certain measure of irony in this.

The idea is relatively simple. Do you know that feeling you get when a roller coaster drops suddenly, and you start to rise out of your seat? That feeling is essentially weightlessness…

Peter Diamandis, came up with idea of using an airplane for a similar result. The idea being that you could rise up slowly with high gravity pull on you, stay at a constant height, and then drop at a vertical angle, creating a pocket inside the plane where you would be free to float around. Since you were contained in the plane, you would feel none of the wind resistance, and could instead focus completely on the minute of weightlessness.

We are living on a precious jewel…

…but even more precious is our ability to dream. We are very quickly approaching a future where our dreams can be made real. I’d like to invite you all to come explore that future too.
