We as humas are hard wired to be happy. So, why are we so unhappy all the time?

We go through our lives wanting so much to be happy, we read books, we go to confrences, we get new jobs ect. We devote our lives to finding happiness when in truth we have been spending our lives learning to be unhppy.

Mr. Rao has a vison that everyone will wake up and feel happy and greatful just because its a new day and as we go through our day we will become refreshed and alive several times. How do we get there?

We first have to start by looking at where we are now. We devote our lives to finding happiness but, by doing this we are buying in to a type of mental model called the if then model. For example, if I get lots of money then I can be happy. The problem with this if then model is that it is flawed. What it does is foucs on the outcome (getting lots of money) wich is, by definition, out of our control. As we move through our lives we dont really change as a person we simply change the if that we are focusing on, wich means that we are no different now than we were 3,4,5 years ago. How do we fix this?

We need to invest ourselves in the process. If we do this we will be happy no matter what the outcome because you eather get the outcome you hoped for or you get a brand new starting point. If we live our lives like this everything will make us happy. If we live our lives like this things will start to change, the type of people we meet, the things we do, the places we go, and the way we see life.

This inspirational talk really made me think and, I belevive it will have an impact on my life in the future. After watching I really want to reexamine the way i look at things in my life and try to become a trully happy person.
